Have you thought about what goals you want to set yourself to achieve by the end of the year?
2020 was a rough year for all of us, including my self. In early May, the company I worked for was deeply affected by COVID resulting in losing my job as a Social Media Specialist. Fortunately for me I temporarily gained my job back after a week later to help with the transition. I was blessed to stay until end of September where I was then offered another position (same company) as a Content Strategist until the end of the 2020 year. After working as a Content Strategist and working with destination organizations it truly convinced me that creating content is my passion.
Fast forward to 2021, I decided to take the first month of the year (January) to 100% focus on my blog and social platforms. My overall goal is to consistently create beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content and educate my audience along my journey. Because Instagram is my main platform I have set a goal to achieve 15k+ followers by the end of the year. To achieve this, I will need to consistently post on IG stories (3-4x a week).
I need to leverage TikTok and Reels as they’re the top platforms that are trending. I know creating video content will also allow me to grow.
Financially my goal is to push myself to make $30K in just brand deals and brand collaborations. As a Content Creator, I have eye for design, copy writing, and marketing. I look forward to working with brands who need my experience to upgrade their website or social feed. I realized that the skills that I’ve gained through the years were being under shadowed in my previous jobs and weren’t being utilized at all.
Additionally, it’s always been a dream of mine to become a business owner. In 2016 I graduated from SFSU with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management. It sure has given me a long haul of success but now is the time to invest in my business. I’ve done a lot of research on what I’d like to get started on and you’ll be seeing it in the upcoming months! I’m hoping that at the end of the year I can analyze how far I’ve come and make a decision if I’d like to take Mariitzaah full time.
I recommend that you sit down, grab yourself a drink or two and just write down any realistic and unrealistic goals you would like to set for yourself. Sometimes you have to write it down or say it out loud in order for it to feel like it’s REAL.

- Save $$ by EOF – how much money to put away + monthly budget
- Travel – create a budget, research the city/country, set dates to pay off debt,
- Master a skill – something that will be helpful in your career/job – search on Udemy
- Become a Blogger/Influencer – make sure you know your niche, follow your favorite influencers and save the posts that resonate to you the most. Search for quality cameras, editing sites, know your audience, engage!
